ABC News national correspondent Will Reeve, 34, has recently opened up for the first time about his private health battle after being diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year. Known for his work on Good Morning America, Reeve decided to share his story to help raise awareness and inspire others to pay close attention to their bodies.
The journey began this past April when Reeve discovered a tender lump during a routine shower. Although he initially thought it might go away on its own, his wife, Amanda Dubin Reeve, strongly urged him to get it checked by a medical professional. Following an ultrasound and an early May surgery known as an orchiectomy, doctors confirmed the diagnosis, revealing that the cancer was an aggressive form called embryonal carcinoma which had spread to his abdominal lymph nodes.

The diagnosis brought a striking sense of symmetry to Reeve’s life history. Having tragically lost his legendary father, actor Christopher Reeve, and his mother, Dana Reeve, to illnesses years prior, Will found himself being treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering—the same hospital where his mother was treated decades ago. Throughout his treatment, including a major six-hour surgery in June and subsequent rounds of chemotherapy, his wife Amanda stood firmly by his side as a caregiver.
Thanks to early detection and modern medical care, Will Reeve testicular cancer treatment was successful, and he was declared cancer-free following a checkup on September 8. He credits his early diagnosis entirely to his wife’s persistence and his family’s enduring legacy of turning personal adversity into public hope.
Looking ahead, Reeve plans to maintain regular health screenings and hopes his experience encourages others to prioritize their health. As he continues his career on television and focuses on what truly matters in life, this chapter has only deepened his appreciation for his health, his supportive colleagues at ABC News, and his life with Amanda.
