Brittany Boltinhouse Claims Conservative Christian Beliefs Led to Her Miss North Carolina USA Dethronement
RALEIGH, North Carolina — Former beauty queen Brittany Boltinhouse has publicly shared her perspective on losing her crown, suggesting her traditional worldview may have influenced the decision. Boltinhouse, who was named Miss North Carolina USA 2026 in late June, was stripped of her title just weeks before the national pageant.
In a recent interview, the 27-year-old expressed her strong conviction regarding the sudden removal. “As of today, I believe and think I was stripped from my title because of my political stance and my belief system as a conservative Christian woman,” Boltinhouse stated.
Pageant Standards and Missing Explanations
While Boltinhouse admitted she was not given explicit reasons for the decision due to a confidentiality agreement, she remains convinced that her faith was the defining factor. The Miss USA Organization and local organizers at A-Blaize Productions concluded her reign following a review of “recently surfaced information” but did not disclose specific details.
However, Miss USA President and CEO Thom Brodeur emphasized in a statement that the organization holds a zero-tolerance policy against racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any language that strips individuals of their dignity. Reports from local media point toward resurfaced old social media posts allegedly containing problematic language. Addressing the online scrutiny, Boltinhouse noted that “every teenager has made a mistake” but chose to focus on the person she is today.
Finding Peace Moving Forward
Despite the abrupt loss of her crown, the former Miss Wilmington stated she is at peace and views the challenging situation as a “blessing in disguise”. She added that she bears no ill will toward the pageant directors, choosing forgiveness instead.
Following the dethronement, first runner-up Myla Hadley has stepped up to assume the Miss North Carolina USA title. Hadley will represent the state at the upcoming national Miss USA pageant in Miami.
